Concord & 9th— In the Classroom: Color Edition Big & Bold

Happy Thursday!

Today I’ve got some fun cards to share with you using my class kit from the In the Classroom: Color Edition event that Concord & 9th put on this past weekend. Ever since I signed up for Summer Camp last year, I’ve been all in with Concord & 9th events. So of course I jumped at the chance to sign up for their Color Edition class that introduced all 25 new colors. And let me tell you, you’re going to love these colors. I don’t want to spoil too much before Concord & 9th officially introduces them so I’m not going big into details!

This post only features one of the class sets, Big & Bold, which was taught by Laura Bassen. The other, Pretty Petals taught by Cathy Zielske, has a great stamp heavy bundle that I haven’t had the time to get to yet, but I will soon! But back to Big & Bold, I love this product suite— the floral stitching die alone gives me life 😍. This set comes with a large floral stitching die, florals to layer on top of it, and some really great leaves/stems and teeny tiny filler florals. Today’s blog post shows off only one of the four cards made in Laura’s class and one that I came up with myself. I can’t wait to play with all of the product more, but I only have these two to share today since I wanted to get a blog post up today.

Big & Bold Birthday Card

This is the first card that Laura taught, and I love it! I love the graphic nature of the black stamping and the pop of color from the flowers and leaves. All of these cardstock colors are brand new and their names are (from top flower to bottom): Tidepool, Clementine, Dragonfruit, Sunflower, and Carnation, and the leaves are Avocado. Talk about fun names and great colors! Now placement of these might look stressful/tedious, but the background stitched floral die actually creates the placement of each flower and turns making this card basically into solving a puzzle. The designers at Concord & 9th really hit it out of the park here.

Big & Bold Mini Slimline

I had so much fun playing around and making this card! While watching the class on Saturday, I had the idea to use this die set on wheat cardstock and to see if I could make a slimline or mini slimline with it. I die cut flowers out of (starting from the top to bottom): Dragonfruit, Nectar, Sweet Pea, Carnation and Pink Lemonade. The tiny flowers were cut out of those same colors and spread around, the flower centers were die cut out of Honeycomb, and the leaves were die cut out of Avocado and Artichoke cardstock. I love these olive-y greens and can’t wait to buy a pack of them! Originally I was thinking of making this a Mother’s Day card, but I didn’t have a sentiment that I thought would fit the size of this card well. So, I pivoted and decided to use the stitched ‘hi’ from the Everyday Sayings die set as well as the sub-sentiment ‘there’ from the same die set. I die cut the ‘hi’ out of C9 white glitter paper, and the ‘there’ out of a new cardstock color—Lemongrass. I love how all these colors play so well together on this card!

From what you’ve seen today, are there any colors you’re in love with so far?! I think Nectar might just give my favorites Sea Glass and Grapefruit a run for their money. Well, that’s all that I’ve got for you today! I still have so much more playing to do with these class kits, so be on the lookout for that or Easter cards next! Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope to catch you next time! 😊
