Spellbinders—Vintage Ornaments Christmas Cards

Hello, friends!

I’m finally sharing my Christmas cards!! I should have been sharing them as I made them, but I was in a bit of a time crunch and had hoped to share them as YouTube videos. However, that hasn’t seemed to happen, so blog posts it is! If I manage to get a video edited in time before Christmas, I’ll be sure to share it and update blog posts with links. I could always share them after Christmas, but maybe that would be weird?? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

So anyway, back to the cards! Today’s post is all about these two cards I created using the Vintage Ornaments 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders. I fell in love with this embossing folder a couple months back and picked it up, but didn’t make anything since I didn’t know how I wanted to use it. Well, after I created three cards using the 3D embossing folder in Altenew’s Flourishing Garden Craft Your Life Project Kit, I decided to follow that ‘formula’. For some reason this holiday season I’ve been obsessed with kraft cardstock and white pigment ink, so I figured what better way to create with this folder!

I pulled out a piece of Wheat cardstock that I cut down to 4.25 x 5.5-inches. Since this is a 3D embossing folder, I decided to use my Platinum 6 and the universal plate system to make things easier. I misted the back of my Wheat cardstock with some water, slid it into the folder and positioned it how I liked, then ran it through my die cut machine. Misting the paper really helps to keep it from cracking, but keep in mind that since this is a 3D embossing folder, your cardstock will likely shrink just a little bit on the edges since the paper is being pulled and shaped in such a dimensional way.

I let my cardstock dry a little bit (it was ever so slightly damp from being misted) before pulling out my white pigment ink cube. I lightly buffed the ink cube over the raised edges of my cardstock, and I love how this turned out! It kinda makes me think of iced gingerbread cookies! For my greeting, I pulled out the Holiday Sayings dies and die cut the ‘very merry’ out of Concord & 9th’s white glitter paper. This glitter paper is soo beautiful and is truly my favorite of all glitter papers. I die cut an additional sentiment out of scrap white cardstock for a little bit of extra strength, then glued it down. I could have added a bit more dimension to it, but I didn’t want to since this card would be getting mailed. I dug through my stash and decided on a subsentiment of ‘season’s greetings’ that’s from the Holiday Vibes stamp set from Ellen Hutson. Unfortunately, Ellen has closed her shop and this product isn’t available anymore, but I will link to similar products down below! (UPDATE—this set and the coordinating die to cut it out are available on their Amazon shop, the supply list is updated!) To finish the card off, I added some gems from the Holiday Jewelz Mix from Buttons Galore & More. I think this adds the perfect touch with some sparkle tucked in!

Since the first card came together so quickly, I decided I had to make another with this gorgeous embossing folder! To spice things up, I decided to emboss a landscape card this time, and I love how it turned out! I wanted to use a different sentiment, so I pulled out the ‘joy’ from the Oversized Happy Joy die set from Waffle Flower. I love this big sentiment! Since I wanted a subsentiment to go along with it, I pulled out the Love Peace Joy reverse sentiment strips from Simon Says Stamp. I glued my white sentiment and sentiment strip down, then finished off the card with the same gems as I did on the first one. I love the soft subtle shine these add to the card!

I hope you liked these two cards! They’re super quick to create, so if you’re in a rush to finish some cards in time these would be a great to make! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope to catch you tomorrow and everyday between now and Christmas where I’ll be sharing more holiday cards! 😊
