Spellbinders—LDOM July 2022— Food Trucks

Hi friends, happy Thursday!

Today I’m sharing two super cute food truck cards I made using the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month from July 2022. Once I saw the dies revealed for July, I actually subscribed to the die + stamp addict value club for $42, but I ended up cancelling my subscription for August since I wasn’t as interested in this month’s products as I was for July. The nice thing is you can subscribe or unsubscribe whenever you want, no questions asked, and there are cheaper subscription options as well. Since July has passed, if you are interested in this die, I believe Spellbinders does add their large die of the month dies to their shop, but I think it takes a couple months before they do. So if you like it, be on the look out!

I had so much fun making this taco truck! I got the cutest color palette inspiration from Pinterest, and I adore how this card turned out. I die cut the main body of the truck out of a blue-green colored cardstock from a Recollections value pack, and the silver accents and taco meat cardstocks are also from Recollections. The yellow stripe and taco were cut out of Buttercup from Concord & 9th, as well as the wheels out of Mushroom, the canopy stripes, taillight, and tomato out of Poppy, the headlight out of Stardust, the lettuce out of Parsley, and the orange accents out of Marmalade. I die cut the largest rectangle out of vellum to give the windows a bit of a haze (the window on the right is brighter since I stacked 2 additional die cut trucks).

For the background, I die cut an A2 sized piece of Sprout cardstock using the Stitched Stripe card front die, both from C9. The stamp set from Spellbinders did have some good sentiment options, but I decided to use the Love You More Than stamp set from Concord & 9th since it had a taco sentiment, and I think it worked out well with this card! I finished the card off with two sizes of Buttercup enamel dots to add some extra interest.

I stepped out of my comfort zone with this card, and made it a 5x7! On Spellbinder’s website, they have a ‘coming soon’ tab that I tend to check out shortly after their monthly release drops. In July, I noticed that there was a whole set of food themed dies and sentiments coming out and I knew they would make a perfect pairing for the food truck die set! I was so excited when I purchased them. This is my first card using one of the dies from that set (Sweet & Savory), and I think it’s the cutest donut truck! I would not be sad to see a donut truck like this out and about.

I worked on the donut portion first before the food truck, and I die cut the base of the donut out of Wheat cardstock and the frosting layer out of Ballet Slipper cardstock. I ink blended some Honeysuckle ink on it to darken it a bit and give it some dimension. Then I die cut sprinkles of Clover, Marmalade, Oceanside, Buttercup, Poppy, white and a random purple from a variety pack of cardstock.

For the truck, I die cut a light purple cardstock using the truck die and did the same with Ballet Slipper and Aqua Sky. I decided I wanted the stripe to be in Aqua Sky, and the bottom of the truck to be Ballet Slipper, so I took my Ballet Slipper die cut and cut it right where the bottom of the stripe embossing is. I die cut the fender portions out of Ivory cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, and the canopy out of Honeysuckle and Ballet Slipper. Just like the taco truck, I used Mushroom for the wheels, Poppy and Stardust for the headlight and taillight, and silver cardstock from Recollections for all silver portions.

I had a leftover card base from C9 Summer Camp that was 5x7, and with the size of the donut on top of the food truck, I decided it was time to use it. I used a patterned paper in my stash from Echo Park, and funny enough, the back side of it is a food truck pattern! Before adhering the food truck to the card front, I worked on my sentiments. I white heat embossed ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Sweet & Savory Sentiments stamp set that coordinates with the die set. I love these sentiments and how punny and multipurpose they are. For the sub greeting, I decided to white heat emboss it on a strip of Sea Glass cardstock and I glued it on the food truck under the service window.

I popped my food truck and sentiment on the card base and finished the card off with Rainbow Dots polymer clay confetti from Studio Katia to tie into the sub greeting.

I hope you enjoyed these two cards! I really wanted to get more created before posting this to really showcase how great of an addition the Sweet & Savory dies are to the Food Truck die set, but I ran out of time. Hopefully I’ll be able to work on some in the near future and share them! Thanks for stopping by, I hope to catch you next time!
