Concord & 9th— Playful Pumpkins Halloween Card

Happy Halloween Eve!

Today I’ve got another quick card for you, this time a spooky cute Halloween card using the Playful Pumpkins bundle! I’m not one to create Halloween cards too often (I think I made 2 last year?), but just know I have a hoard of Lawn Fawn Halloween products that I just can’t seem to get myself to use. I purchased them when I first started crafting and since then my style has changed, so I should probably use them or pass them along at this point. That said, this card is so ‘me’. I think I struggle with Halloween cards at times because of the scene setting, which can get overwhelming pretty quickly. This card, however, makes setting the scene for a Halloween card super easy—all you need is a spooky blended background, some cute jack-o'-lanterns, and some sky elements.

I made this card with a lot of help from some dies from the Plane Amazing die set, but if you don’t have it, you could always use the enamel shapes that Concord & 9th released with that bundle to make this scene and cut out your own oval! Or make something entirely different!

I started this card off by cutting a piece of C9 white cardstock down to 3.75 x 5-inches and securing it to my glass mat with some mint tape. I chose to do this instead of using a grip mat because I wanted to mask off the bottom inch because that is where my ground would be, but also because I wanted to make sure I would see some of the Clementine ink I would be blending. I wanted this card to be like a spooky sunset on Halloween night, so I pulled out Clementine, Eggplant, Midnight and Black inks and blended in that order. I die cut my stitched pumpkins out of Clementine cardstock and added stems in Nutmeg. I black heat embossed the jack-o’-lantern faces using black embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp—this is my all time fave embossing powder, it gives you such good, juicy results!

With my card elements coming together, I decided to switch things up and make my scene out of the largest oval from the Plane Amazing die set. Before die cutting my panel, I cut a piece of Cobblestone cardstock that was an inch thick and added some splatter to it with the corresponding ink to make it look like a sidewalk. I glued this onto my blended panel, then die cut my oval. I built up elements in my scene using the clouds, stars, and crescent moon die from the Plane Amazing die set. I cut the clouds out of white, but it would be so fun with some vellum ones, too!

With things ready to go, I started assembling my scene. All the sky elements were glued down, and the tall pumpkin adhered with thin foam squares while the short one was stuck down with thick foam squares. I black heat embossed the ‘boo!’ sentiment, die cut it with the coordinating die, and popped it up on some thick foam squares. Isn’t this so cute?!

For my card front, I decided to pull out the Cloudy Double card front die that was released this past July. This card front die (as well as the Double Stitched one) is great because it allows you to get two different orientations with just one die. That’s a big win for me since I’m not the biggest fan of having to buy two card front dies to get both orientations, but that could just be me because I’m an options girlie! I popped my scene up on some foam tape I had in my stash, and centered the oval on my card front. To finish off the card, I decided it needed some shine, so I pulled out some dew drops and glued them down. You could definitely use black enamel dots if you have them!

That wraps up this card! It’s a great quick card to make if you’re in a pinch, or if you don’t want to spend all day crafting. With that said, I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween, and I will catch you next time!
