Concord & 9th—Celebration Squad +a stretch to the die set!

Hello, Crafters!

Today I’m finally starting to share my guest design work from August 😅. I’m waaaay behind thanks to editing and my occasional inability to sit still and edit footage down, but I’m finally making great progress. If you didn’t know, Concord & 9th invited me back to guest design for them this past August! 🎉 I’m so thrilled and grateful to do so, and I had a blast creating with the release. So big thank you again to the Concord & 9th team, and if you’re looking for supplies I used on these cards, they will be linked down below!

When I tell you I love how this card turned out, I truly mean it! When I was creating this, I heard the siren song of this beautiful patterned paper so I had to use it. Now, if you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I’m a floral girly, so it should come as no surprise to you that I literally squealed with joy when I opened my guest design package and saw this paper and the Blooms For You bundle (that content is coming soon!).

I was inspired by a French-feeling painting that I did a couple years back, and decided to create a black striped shirt for my person. At this point, I decided to make it as myself and to send this card to my mom for her birthday (which just passed this past weekend!). So I die cut myself some blue jeans out of Blueberry cardstock (not sure why since I haven’t work blue jeans in ages haha!—it’s all about leggings for me), a shiny belt out of matte gold cardstock, and a wavy long ponytail out of Nutmeg cardstock. I die cut a cupcake, stamped my greeting and glued everything down on two layered ovals from the Plane Amazing die set. Lastly to finish things off, I added some gold sequins from Concord & 9th.

Time to stretch this set!

As I was wrapping up the last card, the idea to use this die set for Christmas cards popped into my mind. The best thing we can do with our expensive hobby is to stretch the mileage of our sets, and I thought what better way than to do so with Christmas! The present die, which is perfect for all gifting occasions, is great here because you could even cut it out of a small printed patterned paper for more holiday flair! But all you really need to make this a Christmas card is a good Christmas sentiment. For the main sentiment, I white heat embossed the ‘Happy Holidays’ greeting from the Festive Phrases stamp set (this was released in the 2022 holiday release) on Poppy cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die. I pulled out the Be Merry patterned paper pack (also from 2022) and decided to use the Evergreen checkered pattern to make a cute, ruffled shirt and set aside the multicolored stripe pattern for my card front. I die cut the rest of my person (I made it me again) with Nectar for the body, Nutmeg for the hair, black for the skirt/pants, and C9 matte silver for the belt.

I decided to go for a mini slimline here, so I cut a panel of Sea Glass cardstock to 6 x 3-inches, and the striped patterned paper to 6.25 x 3.25-inches. To make the Sea Glass panel a bit more interesting, I decided to stamp some little snowy images from the Boughs & Holly (2022 release) stamp set in Sea Glass ink. I think this made things feel a little less plain, but it’s not necessary. I decided I needed a subsentiment to eat up more space on the card front, so I pulled out the ‘let’s be jolly’ from the Tiny Trees Turnabout stamp set and stamped it in Poppy ink. I totally could have used the ‘A gift for you’ greeting from the Celebration Squad stamp set, but I didn’t even think of it until the card was done! For some reason I was making this card in a corporate way, as in it could be perfect to hand out to your coworkers if you exchange gift cards/whatnot around the holidays. To finish this card off, I added three clear sequins from the same Neutrals Sequin assortment to draw the attention back to the person and add a little shine.

I hope you enjoyed these two cards! I think the first one is my favorite, but it’s definitely because of those florals! But I’m super happy to be able to get a Christmas card made out of this set as well. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Stay tuned for more guest designing posts coming soon! 😊
